Griffin is AVEX's Lighting Department Manager and has been with us for 4 years. One way or another he has a hand in each event we put lights on. So it's about time we put the spotlight on Griffin and found out a Little more about him!
AVEX: What did you like about AVEX that made you decide to work here?
Griffin: Through friends I did some free lancing with AVEX... I think it was the pace, loading in a show, setting it up, running a show, striking it all in a day... I was used to the hustle and the 16 hours days from my theatre days...I liked the hustle of AVEX.
AVEX: If you were stranded on an island what two things would you brig?
GT: Gaff tape and a wrench.
AVEX: What's your greatest fear?
AVEX: What super human power do you wish you had?
GT: I don't think I'd like to have super hero powers. I'd rather be Tony Stark or Batman. With unlimited supply of weapons and armor. I guess I'd rather just be really rich and .. Create myself into a super hero and save the world that way.
AVEX: How would you describe your job to a child?
GT: I make the show look good. I get to play with lights, I have the fun job!
AVEX: You've been married to Kayla for how long?
Griffin: Married for 4 years, together for 10. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats. Stella, Joe, Rosco and Harley.
AVEX: You and Kayla recently went on a trip to England, Ireland, Scotland and France. Planning anymore trips?
GT: We've got a couple. We try every year to go somewhere regionally. Our next one I think is Maine, for our small US trip. And we are putting together our Australian plan... If we do it we'll be there for a month. We might do a layover in New Zealand or come back through Tokyo.
AVEX: I know the answer but, who is your favorite musician?
AVEX: Any office nicknames?
GT: Ha! Rouge Leader!
Favorite things about working at AVEX:
The fast pace of shows, loading in and out all in one day.
On the fly lighting design while working directly with the client day of the event. And planning fun effects and looks to have a t the ready for specific moments at an event.
Wearing multiple hats: fixing gear, researching new gear, problem solving, re imagining designs to fit with the often times last minute parameters.
